The Trauma Toolkit is a summarized overview of soothing therapeutic options —so you're not guessing alone in the dark during the most painful moments of life. This DIY toolkit for personal empowerment is a curated list looking at therapy modalities and trauma theories often presented alone but actually part of a larger picture.
The course looks at:
Trauma's effects on our identity and self worth, the 5 major wounds and the various “fragmented selves” that can arise from childhood trauma.
The damage done to our nervous and limbic system and the best therapies for our healing.
How Perfectionism, a control based coping strategy on the OCD spectrum, employs shame based self bullying tactics to keep us trying to be perfect to be safe. This rigidity and "unwinnable games" leave us with low self worth and a defeatist sense of futility. Understanding why we developed this coping strategy and how to release the lie that we should (or can) be perfect to be loved frees us to joyfully live.
After exploring the brain’s coping strategies, we’ll look at therapeutic options like: --Somatic therapy, a mind body based approach to releasing trapped trauma in the tissues. --Talk Therapy, a common first step 1-1 trust building therapy model revolving around verbal exploration--Reframing Thought Tools like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy--Neuro-feedback & Biofeedback tools used to help reset the Nervous System and Limbic System--Plant Medicines and Psychedelics, a biochemical exploration and rewiring of the brain post trauma--Movement, Somatic release, connection to the divine, and chakra opening through dance--Breath work, using oxygenation of the body to open and release--Using Tracking to savor our wins and talk back to our inner bully --Gratitude and Forgiveness as tools to release heavy pains and pivot perspective.
